LOCATION

Mt. NAEBA is one of the most famous ski and snowboard resorts in Japan with both a long history and a strong reputation.  It has been the venue for numerous international events including the Alpine Skiing World Cup.  Naeba is located in the southern area of Yuzawa town in Niigata Prefecture.

Naeba is one of the only resorts in Japan with two or more Gondolas meaning less queuing time, rapid turn around from base to mountain top.  Naeba, Tashiro, Kagura and Mitusmata are connected ski areas which together form the 3rd largest ski resort in Japan.

Naeba and Kagura combine to form the wider Mt. Naeba area and travel between the two snow parks is made possible by Japan’s longest (and previously the world’s longest) ‘Dragondola’ gondola, which stretches an amazing 5,481m between the resorts.  In late July, Naeba is also the venue the for the annual Fuji Rock Festival with excess of 100,000 people attending each year.

Snowshoe Walking Tour

YOU CAN ENJOY A STROLL IN SNOW IN “KANJIKI”.

Known as one of the snowiest regions of Japan, in winter Niigata receives snow to a depth that easily exceeds human height.

On joining the tour, you’ll get to wear traditional kanjiki, made with wood and ropes.

Strawberry Village

This was Uonuma’s first strawberry picking farm.

Being able to pick strawberries in heavy snowy areas such as this makes it quite a unique and unusual facility to visit.

There is a sense of freshness to this place thanks to their raised hydroponic cultivation.

Their most popular product is the large and sweet Niigata limited echigo hime strawberries, which are grown in a winter greenhouse.
